Homemade Interactive Whiteboard
Here is the video of students using the homemade interactive whiteboard. They are working on a matching game on a regular pull-down screen. This will work on any surface, wall, screen, whiteboard, etc. Click here to get the directions on how to make your own.

Looks neat, but what about software? Is this only for websites or have you found a way to use some type of open software as well?
I'm not completely sure what you are asking. It will work on any kind of website or software that runs on your computer. You can use it to use thousands of already made SMART Board lessons as well.
That's what I was asking. :) I wasn't sure if it would do SMART board lessons without actually having a SMART board/software.
Ahh...I'm glad I answered your question :)
I went over to TPT and I'm considering purchasing the directions for making my own whiteboard. Since you have already made your own is this something someone who is not very technologically talented capable of doing or will I need our school tech??
Hello again, I had a similar question about the software before I start purchasing items. I've had a Promethean board in my class before and I LOVED the Activinspire software. Will I be able to install and use this software with this type of "homemade" interactive whiteboard?
Arenia, I have laid the steps out so it is something the average person can follow. If for some reason you need any extra help you can message me at caseybrewertpt@gmail.com and I will assist you further.
If you install Activinspire onto your computer then this will work with that.
Arenia, I installed Activinspire and tested it out. It works great! I have never used this software before. Thanks for teaching me something!
Hello! Thank you for answering my questions. I think I'm ready to start purchasing :) By the way, Activinspire is AWESOME...the possibilities are endless!!!!! You can download lots of free files at www.prometheanplanet.com. If you don't mind my asking, did you download the free student version or the educator version and how much did you pay??? Thank you so much Mr. Brewer!!!!!!!
For ActivInspire? I didn't pay anything. I typed in ActivInspire Software into google and it took me to a link at www.prometheanplanet.com to download it for free. Have you tried doing that yet?
I Finally got around to purchasing your IWB directions. I'll let you know if I could set everything up successfully.
Hello. I just read over the directions and I have one question. On 1 of the links that you provided I noticed they sell the license for the SmoothBoard, but when I install I'm using an "unregistered" version. Is this what you use and do you have (and will I) encounter problems if I download the free one?? Should I just purchase their license? I just don't want to buy the three items and find out the IWB doesn't work very well. (So far, I've already spent hundreds of dollars setting up two classrooms and this will cost me another $50 or so. THANKS!!!!!
Yes, I use the unregistered version. Do not purchase the license. That will cost an extra $30. Use the unregistered one and the free one together.
The reason behind this is the unregistered version finds the wiimote so much easier, but it has popup ads. That's why you close it after using the free one.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
I already have a slate and pen that we use, will I still need to purchase the Wii products?
I'm not sure what kind of pen you have. You will need an IR pen. You will still need the Wii remote.
Is this the same program given for free by Johnny Chung? http://johnnylee.net/projects/wii/
It is very similar. It is a combination of two programs. I tried Johnny Chung's and couldn't get it to work but maybe 1 out of 40 tries. This setup has worked for me every time. If Johnny Chung's works for you go for it.
Mr. Brewer,
I am in the process of purchasing the needed supplies for the interactive whiteboard. I was preparing my computers by downloading the needed items (Wiimote download) and a box popped up saying that this device was not found in the HID device list. When I went to the smartboard 2 site to download it, I was directed to another product. Can you help me? I am somewhat computer literate but this has thrown me a loop.
